Art Saves: Andreina Fuentes and the “Action Exhibition” Methodology for Transforming Communities

Apr 30, 2026 | News

Can an art exhibition eradicate a rat plague or found a national museum? For Andreina Fuentes Angarita, a cultural manager and multidisciplinary artist, the answer is a resounding yes. During her participation in the Artists With Purpose (Coexpace) initiative, “Nina” detailed her vision of cultural management—not as an aesthetic exercise for white-cube galleries, but as a process of “teaching how to fish” within the heart of communities.

“The personal is political: art is the way to exercise the right to have rights.”Andreína Fuentes Angarita

Fuentes Angarita presented her Action Exhibition (Exposición Acción) methodology, a tool that uses art to diagnose social needs. “The artist is a tutor of experiences, not an invader,” she stated. Through pillars such as music, food, and creativity, she seeks to foster a sense of ownership where citizens move from being spectators to becoming leaders of their own change.

In her session, Andreína Fuentes Angarita explores her career trajectory—from the Miami New Media Festival to her alternative energy projects in vulnerable communities—reminding us that, beyond technique, art is an act of faith intended to improve mental health and civic coexistence.
